If you have an interesting headline, do not neglect the teaser. The two parts of the text are the first that the reader perceives – he must first click on “next” or “more” to see the rest of the article. They are the first hurdle that the reader has to skip easily to get to the text.
Write short, make the topic even tastier to the reader: With the headline you have lured him, now he wants to know if the topic is really so interesting and he is right here. What applies to the headline and the teaser, you can transfer to the whole text: Write clearly. Do not try to turn as complex a sentence as possible. In other words, avoid slots and subordinate clauses so that it sounds as grandiose as possible. This makes it much harder for readers to understand what it’s all about. It is much better to formulate as simply as possible. When in doubt, make a point and formulate two or three sentences instead of a long one when writing online texts.

What do you notice about the following sentence?
“Thanks to smartphones, you can call up your favorite music everywhere today.” Would you say that when you talk about the topic? Probably not. Much more concrete and appropriate than “retrieving” are in connection with music verbs such as “listening” or “listening”. So always look for the right verb, preferably the most vivid one.
And write here better: “Thanks to smartphones you can listen to your favorite music everywhere.”
Use strong verbs when writing online texts
- The teacher roars. The aunt whispers. The politician claims something.
- Do these three sentences produce images in your head? They see the teacher as he raves (or even almost hears him). How different it would be in the text: The teacher says something loud. Or he speaks aloud.
- Strong verbs will add spice to your text. Provided they fit the message, the teacher really has to roar. Avoid verbs with a weak statement, such as saying or communicating.
